When you start donating, you have the option of allocating your dollars to one of our three areas of impact: Fighting Extreme Poverty, Improving Animal Welfare, and Ensuring a Strong Future for the Planet. By choosing an area, you're creating a pool of money from which other nonprofits can apply for, kind of like a grant! From there, we will send you regular emails updating you on exactly where your dollars are going and how they're being used.
If you are with a nonprofit and would like to apply for funding, please contact us and we will send you further instructions.
Grant proposals are evaluated thoroughly by the staff and Board of Directors of The 52 Million Project. Additionally, we consult experts as needed to determine if the grant proposal and nonprofit requesting funding can use the dollars efficiently, effectively, and impactfully.
Our vision is not to just donate $52 million a year; our vision is to have one million people collectively donating $52 million a year. It's not about the sum, it's about the movement. One million people. One dollar a week. $52 million a year. Because of this, if you want to give more than $52 a year, we ask that you spread the word to your friends and family using the custom referral link you get when you start giving. See below for an explanation of what we call, "Secondary Impact"
Alternatively, if you love what we're doing and want to give more than $52 to help us cover our overhead expenses, we would greatly appreciate that support! Please contact us and we can send you further instructions.
As mentioned above, if you want to give more to The 52 Million Project by supporting our overhead expenses, we would love to partner with you! Thanks to our Partners, 100% of every single donation can truly go towards nonprofits in our three areas of impact. If you would like to partner with us to help spread our mission, please contact us and we will talk about it further!
We have a totally unique feature called Secondary Impact. Here's an easy way to explain it: let's say Person A starts donating their dollar a week. Person A can then sign into the account they make and see a tab called "My Impact." There, they can find a referral link which they can share with friends and family through social media, email, texting, etc. Now let's say that Person A shares that referral link with Person B who starts donating after clicking on the link. Person B's donation, a total of $52 each year, now counts as Person A's Secondary Impact. If Person A gets 5 of their friends to start donating, their Secondary Impact would become $260 a year! If Person A got 100 of their friend to donate, their secondary impact would be $5,200! Now imagine how fast we will reach one million donors when we all take just one minute to share this movement with our friends and watch our impacts grow!
It's our belief that anybody can be a philanthropist, even if it's just one dollar a week. So, if you go directly through another nonprofit and donate $52 a year or more, then in our eyes you're helping to accomplish our mission and you're most certainly a philanthropist! Your choice of going through The 52 Million Project instead is a way of knowing that your dollars will be used to effectively, efficiently make an impact. It's also a way to become a part of a movement that fundamentally challenges the way society defines philanthropists. We also take the guess work out of picking charities that are sure to make an impact.
You have the option of donating your $52 split monthly, quarterly, or the full $52 per year. The reason we can't offer having your donation processed as $1 a week is because the transaction costs accumulate to a cost that doesn't quite make sense for a total of $52 per year.
There is only one way that this movement will truly engage one million people: you. You can help us spread the word and democratize philanthropy. Contact us using our Volunteer form to learn more about how you can get more involved!
All donations are recurring. If you want to donate your $52 just once, you can choose to give annually and then cancel your payments after the first time it's processed. Additionally, you can contact us and we will cancel future payments for you.
Please contact us using the For Nonprofits section of our contact page and we will send you further instructions on what we're looking for in a grant proposal.
